Level 4 Qualification in Arboriculture:

This diploma qualification was formerly the Level 3 Technicians Certificate in Arboriculture. This is an arboricultural manager qualification suitable for those wishing to work as assistant tree officers or to gain experience in consultancy work. Often learners will have taken a Level 2 theory qualification in Arboriculture before attempting this qualification, however depending on the experience of the candidate this is not always necessary.

Format of the Qualification: ONLINE STUDY

The new framework gives learners the opportunity to achieve different grades such as Certificates and Diplomas in the different levels, for example at Level 4 learners can gain a Certificate and a Diploma. This new building block approach to moving up the qualifications ladder in equal steps through levels 2, 4 and 6 (ATP) allows for good continuity of learning. Tree Life will encourage and support learners to reach a Diploma at level 4 as this is the full qualification that replaces the Technicians Certificate and so the Tree Life course is designed in the year to take you through to the Diploma level.

• Certificate (12-36 credits)
• Diploma (37 credits or more)

The assessment for the majority of the qualification will be by internal assessment; therefore learners will be submitting work to Tree Life which will build up not only their knowledge as a resource for future work but also build into a portfolio of evidence of completed work for attaining a Diploma. The portfolio will form the evidence required for external moderation.

The course has been designed to take 1 year to complete up to the Level 4 Diploma. Where possible we work to a traditional academic term timetable.

The Course Tutors:

At Tree Life we pride ourselves on our ability to provide first-class training and therefore this means that we require the best tutors. For the Level 4 qualification, Dan Kitching and Ben Lewis are the course tutors and assessors with support from Tony Price as overall course Director.  Tree Life occasionally uses other specialists for certain subjects but with the team's wealth of experience, learners will be in good hands throughout the course. Learners have support and experience from others on their course as well. Most of our group members continue to interact with each other long after our courses have finished!

In summary:

• Gain the Full Diploma with Tree Life in 1 year or have support from us for a further year if you don't quite manage it in the year.
• Courses are part-time and designed to fit around work.
• Internal assessment meaning no external examinations!
• These are professional Qualifications and therefore Tree Life prepares learners not just for the gaining of the qualification but for the next job in hand. We think being consultants ourselves aids the level of training.
• Highly qualified tutors who are also well-respected consultants in their own right.
• 15 sessions across a 10-month period. Starting in September each year with moderation in the following September thereby taking a year to complete the qualification.
• Option to apply for the Tree Life Sponsorship program and gain £1200.00 towards your studies

Requirements:

It is ideal if a learner has achieved a level two theory qualification in arboriculture before attempting this qualification. However, each candidate should have discussed with Tree Life their past experience and current qualifications before applying to the course to ensure that they attend the right one.
